Flora Choir and Taara Folk Dance Group, Estonia

The folk dance group “Taara” was established in 1947 in Tartu.

In addition to folk dance our programs contains also country line dances as well as society ones as a good folk dancer has to be a hand in many fields.

We enjoy everything that makes us feel fine and fit as a fiddle.

We have performed all over Estonia,
in Latvia, Lithuania, Italy, Spain, Finland, Switzerland, Czech, Turkey, Russia, France etc

Trainer: Ingrid Sukamägi

The chamber choir FLORA was founded in 1989 by a small group of young enthusiasts – today the number of singers is around 40. Part of this choir will be coming to Alnwick.

The choir’s repertoire varies from old choir music by known classics to modern pieces (including the ones written by the conductor Erki Meister). Folk songs representing Estonian cultural heritage are always the favourite ones in choir’s programmes.

The choir has two conductors: Ms Kaie Juurma and Mr Erki Meister. The president of the choir is Mrs Heli Kiis.

The choir has participated in different domestic and international festivals – in France, Denmark, Italy, Greece, Croatia, Finland, Iceland etc.
